Reflection...

Well, the added stress of this mad project was not as great as i thought. The issue of communication and job delegation was frustrating at times, especially when someones just along for the ride. In all sincerity, I believe we could have made it to fifty. I got my parents to ask their friends, and delegated Vaughn to make school wide announcements, it's just that very few people in Hong Kong are "pack-rats" as myself. But I can sincerely say that I know with our 31 pairs, we've made a difference. Crossroads would surely find people who need those glasses. Most of the ones we donated are in full working order, except in the case of one, which only had one lens. I recall once when I lost my glasses to the waves of the sea. I remember not being able to see anything; people who I'd put a face to faded into mere blurs and voices. I needed a guide half the time I needed somewhere to go, for the whole three day trip. I can imagine a person, knowing only someone by a blur in their vision, along with their voice and touch, or someone who hasn't had the proper lens in a few years, just hoping for the right prescription. I can see the joy that would be on their face. We take sight for granted, and when we lose it, even for the slightest amount of time, we get fustrated. After an even longer time, we might even lose hope. I believe this mad project helped unlock the heart of a servant in me, that somehow coexists with the fiery, Spanish heart I was born with. I have learned to be happy to serve. I find myself helping people with homework more often, such as my role in Rachelle's World Religions' project, and Richard's Autobiographical peice for Literature Survey.
I believe in the nextime I would recruit members who are more passionate about my cause, not just people who need something to do; in this way, we can strive for exellence instead of the passing mark. And in striving for exellence, I belive we could utilize connections better, asking friends of friends to donate. Maybe more prominent Advertisements? Until next year....

the final count...

only a dissapointing 31 pairs, but it's in the Double digits...turning it in on Friday...
I think it's a relativly good haul though, I guess I optimisticly overestimated our desired target. I guess people in Hong Kong clear out more often than not. Full report soon to come
